LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Apple revealed today that Live Nation will be powering the concert listings feature in the next iteration of Apple's popular iTunes music software.
The partnership will allow iTunes users to purchase concert tickets directly from Live Nation/Ticketmaster through the iTunes application. Apple has previously said that there are more than 150 million iTunes users worldwide.
As per the agreement, Etisalat will partner with Mobiqa to create future Mobile Ticketing applications, through Mobiqa's industry leading mobile bar coded ticket delivery technology. The solution will initially be offered to the entertainment industry in the UAE, and will enable Etisalat customers to purchase tickets for live entertainment shows and movies through their mobile device. Mobiqa's mobile ticketing service is already widely adopted across Europe and the US by a range of top cinemas, venues, ticketing software providers and airlines.

Now that the merger is complete here in the U.S. - looks like there are several skeletons jumping out of closets. We were present at the 2009 CIC Pollstar conference where attendees asked, then CEO of Ticketmaster Dave Butler - if Ticketmaster had directed tickets from the Primary market to their secondary ticketing site of TicketsNow.
"Not on my mothers grave" - was about the response that Butler gave to the approximate crowd of 500 attendees. "Bullshit" could be heard from the crowd. Butler ensured the crowd that Ticketmaster has never and would never have done this. Today, we apparently know better.
We were there in person and heard it first hand. It's kind of funny that there were absolutely NO concessions in the secondary space within the merger. You can bet your ass we will be watching and reporting on this one often - especially given the new CEO of TicketsNow - industry veteran Ron Bension....
